Explaining Dual VCO(Elektron Analog Rytm)Please refer to the Manual for the basics Basic explanation
A more in-depth explanation of CFG The CFG has a mix mode, a ring modulation mode, an FM mode and an FM + ring modulation mode. FM mode and FM + Ring Modulation mode change the function of the balance and the decay of Oscillator 2. "+" - Mix Mode Mix mode is simply a mix of the sounds of the two oscillators. This is recommended when you want to sound like a normal subtractive synth sound. "R" - Ring Modulation Mode The ring modulation mode uses oscillator 2 to modulate the amplitude of oscillator 1, with the DET parameter set high to create a metallic sound. When the BAL parameter is maximized in the negative direction, only the sound of the ring modulated oscillator 1 is heard; when it is maximized in the positive direction, only the sound of the modulated oscillator 2 is heard (i.e. no modulation). "F" - FM Mode In FM mode, Oscillator 2 modulates the frequency of Oscillator 1; in FM mode, Oscillator 2 functions entirely as a modulator. The decay of oscillator 2 is the modulation decay and the balance is the parameter that controls the depth of the frequency modulation. So when the balance is maximised in the negative direction, the sound of oscillator 1 without frequency modulation is heard, and when it is maximised in the positive direction, the sound of oscillator 1 with maximum depth of frequency modulation is heard. "FR" - FM+Ring Modulation Mode In FR mode, Oscillator 2 modulates the frequency and amplitude of Oscillator 1; as in FM mode, Oscillator 2 becomes a modulator function. The decay of Oscillator 2 is the modulation decay, and the balance is the parameter that controls the depth of the frequency modulation. So if the balance is maximised in the negative direction, you get a ring modulated oscillator 1 sound with no frequency modulation, and if it is maximised in the positive direction, you get a ring modulated oscillator 1 sound with maximum depth of frequency modulation. Basic sound design
Poly DVCO(for Ableton Live) By combining Mono to Poly (Max for Live) and Ext. Instrument, you can use Dual VCO as a 3-voice polyphonic synth.
By selecting a synth sample or a single cycle waveform as Sample, you can use Analog Rytm as an 8-voice polyphonic synth.
